About Samantha
Let me introduce myself. I have a very unique background that without a doubt has set me up perfectly for being a coach and facilitator.
I started my career as a Forensic Scientist. I worked as a Crime Scene examiner for the Australian Federal Police for over 18 years, and this allowed me to hone my skills of being open minded, deeply curious, unbiased, use scientific methods to achieve results and most importantly be committed to the truth. I have always been a scientist at heart, and to this day I am all about how the science can be practically used in real life. I loved my job in Forensics, it took me to numerous countries around the world and I got to see many different ways to live and operate, but I got to a point where I felt I had outgrown it (or perhaps I had expanded beyond it), and I felt the pull to use more of my gifts.
I have always been highly empathetic (for those who are like this you know it is both a gift and a curse) and cared deeply about people. Also, I have service in my blood, and up until I started my business I have worked full time in the government. I see how hard the leaders work in this environment and I remain committed to doing everything I can to help them achieve what seems like the impossible each and every day, but without sacrificing themselves in the process.
I have had my own personal journey of transformation. I have invested over 20 years (and a lot of money!) on my own personal growth. It was originally more of a survival strategy, because my life, my leadership struggles and relationship at the time were so hard. I lived in a lot of pain, physically, mentally and emotionally. This is not a place I wish for anyone, and it is my mission to help people find their way out of that (and everybody can!)
Having spent over 7 years developing leaders I can honestly say I have found my purpose. Whether it is coaching leaders 1 on 1, running team development workshops or delivering long term transformation programs, I have found this is where I offer the greatest service.
Supporting leaders to work through some very difficult challenges that they felt they would never overcome is a real privilege.
Also, having been one of those people that kept thinking I needed to learn more and get more certifications before I could step fully into my vocation (sound familiar?), I am now able to draw on an enormous number of coaching tools, activities, diagnostics, and coaching experience to really met each client where they are at and tailor interventions to suit their very situation.
It took me a long time to get out of my own way, and now I am here I could not be more grateful to all the coaches, mentors, teachers (and my old insecurities :-) ) that have helped me get to where I am today.
My coaching and programs are only recommended for leaders who truly want to, and are ready, for change! Leaders who are sick of feeling stuck and want to find a way through. I am in the business of change and transformation, so if that is what you are looking for then you are in the right place.
Below is a sample of some of the things I draw on in my coaching and leadership development programs. There are many diagnostic tools that can be used for deepening self-awareness, and they all have their uses, but I always remind people that as humans we are so much more complex than these models allow, so they are useful to provide deeper insights, but no one fits in a box:
Two ICF Coaching Certifications (Executive Coach Certification with Coaching Australia; and Vertical Development Practices for Coaches and Leaders with the Vertical Development Institute).
Developmental coaching diagnostics using Global Leadership Profile (GLP) or the Shifting Horizons self assessment tool.
Human Synergistics diagnostic tools including Life Style Inventory (LSI), Leadership Impact (LI), Management Impact (MI) or Group Styles Inventory (GSI).
Strength profiles using Cappfinity Strengths Profile tool.
Herrmann’s Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) certification, which is a great tool to support individual self-awareness and team development.
Hogan 360 certification.
15 years experience in mindfulness and somatic practices.
I hope this has given you a sense of who and I and what I bring into my coaching and facilitation practice. I look forward to connecting with you.
